I have a surprise for you all today – a video! I am going to warn you all that it is a bit long. And, because of my health issues, my voice is definitely higher than it used to be. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">This is kind of serving as the introduction to what will be a little series that will run until I am finished. As of right now, it will spill over into 2014. I am okay with that. I know that I can only do so much and I don’t want to stress out. My plan is for the videos to be posted on Sunday’s. </font></p> <div id="scid:5737277B-5D6D-4f48-ABFC-DD9C333F4C5D:67643232-a8df-4591-8ea2-f97409184bff" class="wlWriterEditableSmartContent" style="width: 448px; float: none; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px"><div id="7da49068-ba53-472f-a4b0-e160144042e3" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; display: inline;"><div><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qXLFRYV0CU" target="_new"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQMoUFDEeqqckTlcPzEO3apMFMox99VN1oNJ9_Fm2UAdHuHyFBW6JEYJIZyHeOMgcEsGlAJexItld0U4PUg2I53wCbVquMieOIS34bMf3GAGnpl9gERGksVVwIbQMFILViRPeFuyWMMHw//?imgmax=800" style="border-style: none" galleryimg="no" onload="var downlevelDiv = document.getElementById('7da49068-ba53-472f-a4b0-e160144042e3'); downlevelDiv.innerHTML = "<div><object width=\"448\" height=\"252\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http://www.youtube.com/v/1qXLFRYV0CU?hl=en&hd=1\"><\/param><embed src=\"http://www.youtube.com/v/1qXLFRYV0CU?hl=en&hd=1\" type=\"application/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"448\" height=\"252\"><\/embed><\/object><\/div>";" alt=""></a></div></div></div> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Like I mention in the video, I am not generally a scrapbooker, so this is going to be a learning experience for me. I am saving my DSLR for family gatherings and maybe some of the things that I do with the kids in the family. I had some really bad health issues that hit me really hard and I have been out of commission. I was hospitalized and had to take radiation; so, while crafting was on my mind, I didn’t have the strength to do much. The good news is, I *think* the treatment is working and I am slowly but surely returning to my normal self. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Since, I love all things Papertrey, I really wanted to participate in this month’s hop. The challenge was to create five tags. Thus, I have quite a few Christmas stamp sets. My favorite would probably be <em><strong>Peaceful Pinecones</strong></em>.</font> </p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">My initial plan was to keep them simple. Which they kind of are, I suppose . . . What do you think? I will say the addition of the penguin set was a last minute decision. It’s my goal to regularly film start-to-finish card making videos on a regular basis as well as cooking and/or baking videos. I’m not a professional when it comes to videography, so I’ll have to see how that works. My original intent was for Polka Dots, Paint, and Cake Batter to be a full out crafty and lifestyle blog, but I lost sight of the vision and I want to get it back on track. I‘ve had a lot of time to think about it and I am excited to blog again. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">As always, I thank anyone and everyone that comes and reads my thoughts and finds joy in the things I make. I have a new project to share at the start of this wonderful week! I would say that it’s a return to my style, with a little drama – by way of some navy. I haven’t been using dark colors very much as of late.</font></p> <p align="justify"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeX7ZdDeAiMTS5YFXrc02yqRNSXuLl763dsMjH2Zdl4WB_PapDWZlrfffQO7FEf0zsBWOXrDkH1nU7qpx9cPPzBwjneAGohw4Os2kV6EyyGTdRPbTUpPoQZHKK5deKp2149buZRYT5FdA/s1600-h/DSCF2233%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF2233" border="0" alt="DSCF2233" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxqUmld92Ou1n-QiSuRLLvZc28RNGa2H3AAMK0kt9d3_EXUyCA14HnjdBGNCW1W4-cOFAxOUOAOxRMzb2BC1f9LWY9Di4KjdA0fPJ1bs9ARDRa2mhhNTd8hbImVcGzhZgK9_HATPiSvus//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="440"></a></p> <p><font size="3" face="Georgia"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjE5cf4wq98aoPm5tkT3qDo60kMOTVXOjgnvQL6eMFb2yoeWL7PXDedXH8pYJzPm_6xEhJ0pjaKIsxAcoKkkIhN3BDCL5SxCGEOK32xlN2WgRa7OXhtC-PtGOkyY6EQIzRcc8ErzP3kYc/s1600-h/DSCF2238%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF2238" border="0" alt="DSCF2238" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5dQiwLuocS6srG3lAa47nY45vI2xpuDgonyV5SJemiLGFptZYY2bmHxF5lpKYWZZfbGBYcYy1BrcmWzdZJsTDCoUVeId1MO4VS2fwjTF8GdblUt6vkR9Bk2husnIA9TzHNV8LeeA4PHk//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="440"></a></font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Sparkly strawberries! Why yes, I went there. I just couldn’t leave well enough alone, so I added some glitter, but I’m getting ahead of myself here! I used three sets from WPlus9 on my card today. I started with a panel of Rustic Cream cardstock and </font><font size="3" face="Georgia">made my own patterned paper with the berries and leaves from <strong><em>Fresh Picked</em></strong>. Instead of doing the entire panel with the berries, I decided to add in a more subtle pattern to the top of the card. So, I used <strong><em>Country Charm</em></strong> to add some diagonal stripes to a small piece of Melon Berry cardstock. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I diecut a <em><strong>Label Number 5</strong></em> and stamped it with the coordinating border image. When I sat down to make this card, I knew I wanted to use that label and I also knew I wanted to use that very sentiment. Now, the problem – if you’d like to think of it as such, was that the sentiment would not fit on the label without looking, to be frank, horrible. So, I used an EK Success ticket punch because it fit my sentiment perfectly. From there, I adhered my floral embellishment and some navy seam binding bows on both sides. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Back to my glitter bombing. I did this with some stickles. I wanted hints of glitter, so I I just dabbed it here and there. And, finished the entire card off with a spritzing of Mister Huey in Calico Shine. Bam. And, I’m a happy boy!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia"><strong><u>Supplies</u></strong></font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Georgia">Stamps: Fresh Picked, Country Charm, Quite Like You: WPlus9.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Georgia">Cardstock: Kraft, Rustic Cream, Melon Berry: Papertrey Ink. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Georgia">Ink: Crumb Cake, Night of Navy, Cameo Coral: Stampin’ Up. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Georgia">Dies: Circle Stackers & Label Number 5: WPlus9. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Georgia">Other: Calico Shine Mr. Huey</font><font size="2" face="Georgia">: Studio Calico, Button: Papertrey Ink, Seam Binding: Liz’s Paperloft Boutique, Crystal Stickles Glitter Glue: Ranger</font></p> <p align="center"><font size="3" face="Georgia"><strong>WINNER, WINNER!!</strong></font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Okay, I used Random.org to select a winner for the My Creative Time stamp set giveaway, and the lucky person is: Vivi J! I have a super special post for today. My former DT boss, <a href="http://www.creativetimeforme.com/">Emma</a>, invited me to guest design for her and I was more than happy to oblige!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">We’re going to think of today as a bit of a Technique Tuesday. One of the most difficult things I can think of is mixing patterned papers. So, my card today will hopefully show you how you can mix different patterns cohesively. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I’m going to throw out a disclaimer, however. I am not a graphic designer so I can’t honestly say that I have special training that makes me an expert. I studied Interior Design, so my pattern and color usage is influenced by that. </font></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2Oo5Dx52Bp2DETTdOy4TyaY2qzNDQzNAj2lqXGkKi0l0yF4wNwGK7NSF9RB5C7EMdOhJ09VK_CpjXjwjhEzP3KwRVT0tVz2BIVZiNnIaC9grfWwHLhYBsTODWjXEv6_UDV0SqkfP5x4k/s1600-h/DSCF2295%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF2295" border="0" alt="DSCF2295" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq4jXmwxCdL5rTTK9GFcyPrYm32AEXljhBJnt6WKP32e-TFtInVfL6XoOEVyVLZsV54lXVCc7gMD-yIeyFSoRxP_QNH00sPsbfMiwFpWCL1cupaIqTHi8hPCjwsIa99S5XpA55DaMsdio//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="416"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFdoIeyZyVcZ5jz-OGtnzAVgUhzc4zsXvSCjBQbcPpiZcPbK0OABPyu_Ik8-vD3BqizRqy4u1W9kz1m6F5JUmoTLA2nS51jOae6XLJnszJTbRpX9ATilTZdH6XtiM47pXZBP-BBUCL6zY/s1600-h/DSCF2299%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF2299" border="0" alt="DSCF2299" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1uvr-UejShwcreN6OgzrnapepjomUzO3vdbVbibZPWA_rDqmDwAuchSZf_89Z0HJSjbqWrCPak7ttD0DfJS6VkHnIzl7M1aIHMThu48HQ-_Rhf7fcsUASsQKI0L1Hj9VoaTY1XyzSYd8//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="440"></a></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">All of the papers used are from the Dear Lizzy <em>Neapolitan</em> line. I bought it LAST year at Archivers and this is the first time I used it. My overall goal was to make a fun and bright card. Something a little outside of my comfort zone - because my style is generally very shabby and vintage inspired. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">The great thing about using a collection is that the color mixing is done for you. And, generally, the patterns will have a lot of built in coordination. I decided to choose four papers from the collection. I chose the wood grain chevron, green grid, and gray dotted papers because I wanted the banner pattern to provide the pop of color. None of them work against each other. They all kind of peacefully coexist because I used the right patterns in the right amounts. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Also, I left a lot of white space around the sentiment. Even though the pinwheel is a rather large embellishment. It doesn’t take the eye away from the sentiment. I think a lot of people would have used ink to splatter the sentiment card because the pinwheel had splatters. Doing so would have been a mistake because the pinwheel would have disappeared into a sea of ink splotches. Instead, I took some enamel dots and placed them around the sentiment to further define it and draw the eye in. And, in a way, you could imagine them as extensions of the ink spots flying from the pinwheel. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia"><u><strong>Supplies</strong></u></font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Georgia">Patterned Paper: Dear Lizzy <em>Neapolitan</em> by American Crafts. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Georgia">Stamps: <em>Journal It</em> and <em>Floral Sentiments</em> from My Creative Time. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Georgia">Cardstock: Stamper’s Select White. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Georgia">Ink: Versamark. I had to photograph at night because of my work schedule, and I really need to get a new camera. Mine doesn’t like me anymore. Anyway, when it stops raining, I will do my best to get some better photos. These kind of depress me a bit. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I used two of Emma’s older sets, <strong><em>Bloom Where You Are Planted</em></strong> & <em><strong>Floral Sentiments</strong></em> on my card. Floral Sentiments is one of my all time favorite MCT sets. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">My card is pretty straightforward. I stamped the sunflower bouquets with some Momento Rich Cocoa ink. I started off with Tuxedo Black, but it was totally harsh and made me sick to my stomach, so I decided to 86 it and start over. I used two Copic markers, YR65 Atoll & Y35 Maize, to color my flowers. The brown markers are Prismacolors. I stamped my sentiment with Versamark Dazzle in Champagne then embossed it with some detail gold embossing powder. I mixed some gold Perfect Pearls with water and did a little misting on the card front to give it a little more shimmer. Plus, I love the big droplets that misting adds. Me thinks it’s a bit textural. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Alrighty, I am going to call it a night. This boy has to work ALL day tomorrow so I need to get some Z’s. I told myself I would do a better job of blogging, and it helps that I have had moments of inspiration hit me here and there. I have one to share today that I really love, and I take a lot of comfort in the sentiment. Especially so, given the events in Boston on Monday. </font></p> <p align="justify"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh21KWYU5i9uUEDWkiD9OzLJr97YW2wInQapnZIk5KihsI04r6upYnUJNKBwp1yOWMrrV5YVyW7CTRd68rCpJz9L0LkkYUJAjZhULGyO8pTSRQtCFJIpo_uQ4W4r9dHqNVM_uLOEHg4uxE/s1600-h/DSCF2234%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF2234" border="0" alt="DSCF2234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_gs6uy5y_4PTVfPlwO5HDVcK9poKrkmAYx2ASWHT5k7RgcVngPtcOzzN13twFAmpvQTo9pwOzNuyw2M7dig9TQ3YcvOlnPN9j9O4SfGVjJ85SD-Y7z5gY3kPsf58ifBIrs137EjJwEpk//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="440"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8dpLxbsAei6s0YmXoA64Gz-k_nIVEur5_bmcTw8df4Nqzr8gwdsry-jNqhgpK0R9pSZqePcnJ3Ru72TPp0hgAqXSY1ypUqtdQWE-OoSWXsn8OYg_m0kDkzgmN4avEuV2O-6ZjycR4xmU/s1600-h/DSCF2236%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF2236" border="0" alt="DSCF2236" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1pYF9h78HPExXlWAR8AA6OJp4eF_-8CKDyZK-ID4vpNFTogr-6BPEu0ckcLvNtLjzh3a57XWdbDeDB2SMXvZQyPTHZfyQbA7-YIgxo0EQQjkcD4833HPvs67tVRUYvIYKRca_aMsu0oM//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="440"></a></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I used, <em>The Sweet Life</em>, a multi-step floral set from Papertrey Ink. It builds the most wonderful cabbage roses. Next to hydrangea, roses happen to be my favorite flowers. The more hues of ink in ones arsenal, the more possible combinations. Personally, I like to make mine look as realistic as possible. I mean, I doubt you’ll see neon roses here. I guess it could be fun if you’re into that kind of thing. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Because I can’t be satisfied with less, I went back in with some paisley stamps from a Recollections cling mount set that I just love. And, I filled in the pattern further with the strawberry flower from <em>Strawberry Patch</em>. The dots are from <em>Polka Dot Basics I</em>. I used my Envelope Pattern backgrounder to add a little texture. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I stamped my sentiment on a strip of vellum and heat embossed it with some detail gold embossing powder from Recollections. I used the envelope pattern on the back of the sentiment strip because I felt it needed a little bit of color, and because, I just can’t leave well enough alone. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">The panel was sewn to a Kraft base embossed with my <em>Squared Lattice</em> folder. And, to finish it off, I added some buttons threaded with Rustic Cream twine, and silk ribbon. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Alrighty, that is it for me! I hope everyone has a wonderful week. Keep the people of Boston in your thoughts. I’m popping up with a number I made for this week’s <a href="http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2013/03/tuesday-trigger-elegant-emerald.html">Trigger Tuesday Challenge</a>. In case you didn’t know, emerald is the color of 2013. Initially, I was hesitant to embrace it, but I really love it know. As many of you know, I work in retail and we have a lot of emerald pieces that I love. I would totally recommend picking up a few pieces because I find that it can be a very versatile and neutral color. </font></p> <p align="justify"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRDirTwUeZAnIUI8S67OLKyYC4K4Hyhs2qsBAu0-ibvd3FF73fKP6ME4N0-G9OZwTIKIFB-2Ws60R3PwUJfG0Z2re_RDxhIShqXS-dLBqTli8W-Nc91kfnlOUvLLgw4Su_KBOSdtAW9Tc/s1600-h/Elegant%252520Emerald%25255B8%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto; padding-top: 0px" title="Elegant Emerald" border="0" alt="Elegant Emerald" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoCQjG8N18hLkCzxv_6SYU8nkoeRfdpy10cbTviR-02vKB-A9wcXoQxDAVTlIiCvoQCBwHlZEryTpj-kxmvQPXutxyBNuJrvBCoA_lnsK-9X9nvwtmoPFgmiFyuBzbyWi47NhDH7dhvfg//?imgmax=800" width="295" height="377"></a></p> <p><font size="3" face="Georgia">I love the inspiration picture that Cath picked for the trigger. My schedule can be kind of crazy. I work a mixture of days and, on occasion, overnight. A boy has got to eat and sleep sometime. However, I DO have three more projects to share soon (already photographed) because I HAVE been making things here and there. And, I have a list of things I want to make. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I’m here today with a card for the <a href="http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2013/02/tuesday-trigger-pattern-play.html">Moxie Fab Trigger Tuesday Challenge</a>. It seems that I miss challenges a lot of the time, and I am so happy I found the time to participate in this one because the trigger is totally up my alley. Long time, no post. The only thing I can say is that I had too much going on to blog during the last few months of 2012. I was still able to craft here and there, but I don’t even think I photographed most of what I made in November and December. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I really hope that 2013 is better – I’m trying to do more planning. I’ve decided that I have to treat my blog like my job. I think because crafting is such an important part of my life, I need to do that. I am sure that many of you have heard of Ali Edwards’ One Little Word. Well, my word for 2013 is growth. I feel like as a whole, 2012 was a great year for me – but I want and expect more from myself, so I am challenging myself to grow this year. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">That brings me to the card that I want to share with you all. The first one of 2013!</font> </p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglkvdzC7srxuxbeghep5iE8RTKcZRjMJQf8xWVAkaAV5rmCROVpNLlBCIaVSS4uORA_NnGLfm2Dgjakiw0W4iJb4npVuJP1H8EvQB0WRZ8b9jHnXZlRDV2Et8wsYBSnn2lwDiDQiOC9E0/s1600-h/DSCF2192%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF2192" border="0" alt="DSCF2192" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkZx7J2OzF6GbjltJN3KQeezQPD0lXBrX5V0ky-Y-AJyzUOWzG2CX24nXaDrymWhI_iWc-T-sZimm6sky41UfQCY3iaB1CIdvubvgrsc1qndRtVcBOdwU6hItRhyK3nvGaACk_nMrv7LQ//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="481"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgx5b_Nz4t6XXn-RzXj9AbfrX2SisAw-iCIGpsTJhSeAezxhoAhwfkWfwEfz5lhfpp_AlvsuROIcXVd-urs_oRcjEV5Iktc7u3roodvDQOImCxqhSFIblAl9r9apBdOGyv-4j6KiEDv_Xc/s1600-h/DSCF2196%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF2196" border="0" alt="DSCF2196" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQgf3TEYBIXOfHqiNTYX6iICjf5t3HkiP6s1R0NLXb7Tgoa6Wsgg8GMPA7M049U0JMbJKaBxBtg2iyTkGyolpl5O0HCt_yqhO0hp_3xvSz_sxBQCkj6d3pFSA0ErJTC56GOTRaWYO7Lpo//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="356"></a></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">So, in the spirit of growing, I decided to try my hand a technique outside of what I generally do. Chalkboard stamping is the really hot thing right now. I first saw it on </font><a href="http://scrapbookgirl.typepad.com/paper_scissors_and_superh/2012/11/chalkboard-art-meets-stamping.html"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Betsy Veldman’s</font></a><font size="3" face="Georgia"> blog last month and I totally love it. It’s very graphic driven and definitely requires more thought. I like my take on it, but I can’t say it’s something I will do a lot of. I generally do my best to come up with my own thing. I’m not really into reproducing other’s cards or ideas.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Most of this card is Papertrey Ink. I used Smokey Shadow cardstock as my chalkboard. And to kind of put a little bit of myself into it, I matted it on a panel of Sweet Blush which was then adhered to a Soft Stone base. The stamps I used are from Table Service, Thing Big Favorites # 2, and TPC Studios Card Crafting Happy Birthday. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">The one thing I did a little differently was draw in the heart and color it with one of my Prismacolor Color pencils.</font> <font size="3" face="Georgia">Other than that, I pretty much followed Betsy’s tutorial to the T. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Before I wrap this up, I wanted to add that I’ve decided to try Project Life for 2013. I always kind of resisted scrapbooking because I felt that I would overthink it and never really accomplish anything, but I feel like Project Life is something that I can realistically accomplish and still put a little of my own creativity into. I haven’t started yet because I want to order the Seafoam Core Kit which goes on sale later this month. I’m still kind of researching and getting myself organized for this little endeavor! </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Okay, I think that does it. I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas. It is my wish that 2013 is a wonderful year for us all. And, as always, I thank you for taking the time to read my little thoughts and visit my blog. Have a blessed day!</font></p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04662654081230585578noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1063863827831079581.post-20218603959473869332012-10-25T13:19:00.001-05:002012-10-25T13:19:51.990-05:00Papertrey Ink October Blog Hop<p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Hello. Yes, it’s been forever since I’ve posted, but I’m popping in before I head off to work! I wanted to join in on the festivities this month. So, I’m starting a new adventure, and I am having a lot of fun with it. I have found myself being drawn to image stamps for a long time now, and I held off because I didn’t want another thing to spend money on. Well, that didn’t work, but I tried!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Disclaimer: I have never taken a class and I do not profess myself to be an expert, nor do I think you have to be. That being said, if the powers that be at Copic ever come across this, please schedule a class in the South! Like, Nashville or Birmingham please. Thank you. </font></p> <p align="justify"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoYRcSajbuqAsDfZoV8R9EVSn18vmEg6iYOA1ebWHmJXbs4zmoxS0JlKxfmt_YsvQOSXkQbVzTwRopSQFWzro7ADgq-KboJDINP7WQbf6jkhKOnchrmZXw7CqaPSVohY7QR8iU8lOXQ7E/s1600-h/DSCF0370%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0370" border="0" alt="DSCF0370" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQLp-b5nFn0i2ij3LtcWxHcu8mDmlq2w88ONx10CcpRJp-hF4fFmOwkmBz3JzQQNgTe_fQIv63lUcZZtnEh78KT0zvtsIMW9qg0_FsmimIDMGUvjhMHf6uWrfJpP8-sL_Tqrr1udOvl2w//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="460"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJsQfDYSWBlwcNr2UnnlAXGqMaG3r9zmbnMBRJzE69-oDYL3FR_f524eJQ28mWZg6Z9s4u1R6xMdWicKdh0jtAPKsHV_q9I-XqQgRgx5vzfjri4Z8b_Gwujrmh9k6f6YrY3pSdxt8D5QI/s1600-h/DSCF0372%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0372" border="0" alt="DSCF0372" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8KTHOTJ17cxiWxlLy7Y66LerAmaNYvKCQyDyi6lCr-dXghUG9rTzVJfUJf0e7dAhTB9EHH-mVu-BhKkpnJDznmp4ljVR4VaFg20OpujbJnIR-6btnB2lneLXTnoWeis3gseKz-9nuqrg//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="440"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoWbCWdT71bUtn1DS0Q6wIe7KjY23mW-SVQ1AT9EquGPG8__XGeGsnY40qzlBeKtNFAPHib33gTrhQRCeQxNflkpu_Cd0KkOKLGg8ETxGpB07Xnr-O_jXRCksEONOOqSSERKevMejcKmE/s1600-h/DSCF0373%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0373" border="0" alt="DSCF0373" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYbvqEvP4MM9j4Se7M1U6hM9TmHe8UCg69Lq13OH99r_X2HWj1v6gLR3vClLQs6xAtfc1fA3gU5lH4qGjxE5SO239AV-pevOpd8JgqW1g-Uy43ECyeq8Y7ryyIKqAa77pLJE3GZLzaiYA//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="420"></a></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I think it is kind of hard to give a step-by-step description of the making of this card, so I’ll be doing it a little differently this time. I still kind of struggle with that. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I started with the cutest image from Stampin’ Up’s <em><strong><a href="http://nlpimentel.stampinup.net/">Greeting Card Kids</a></strong></em> stamp set. I have eyed this set since I started stamping, and I am so happy to finally have it. Because I am easing my way into coloring, I used a variety of markers for this project. I *think* that I will be buying the Copic Sketch markers. I am researching my options. I might stick with Prismacolors. Anyway, for this card, here are the markers I used:</font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia"><u>Pumpkin</u></font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia">Prismacolor PM-15 Yellowed Orange, PM-16 Orange & PM-13 Poppy Red</font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia"><u>Dress</u></font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia">Prismacolor PM-193 Mint Cream, Pm-166 True Green, PM-32 Parrot Green & Copic Sketch B000 Pale Porcelain Blue</font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia"><u>Cape, Hat & Socks</u></font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia">BIC Mark-It Polynesian Purple, Prismacolor PM-55 Rhodamine & PM-50 Violet</font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia"><u>Hat Band & Buckle</u></font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia">BIC Mark-It Cloud Nine Grey, Tuxedo Black & Prismacolor PM-123 Spanish Orange</font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia"><u>Hair</u></font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia">BIC Mark-It Tiki Hut Tan, Prismacolor PM-69 Goldenrod & PM-98 Dark Brown</font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia"><u>Skin</u></font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia">Prismacolor PM-72 Eggshell, PM-170 Peach & PM-65 Sienna Brown</font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia"><u>Broom, Leaves & Branch</u></font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia">PM-166 True Green & PM-31 Dark Green, BIC Mark-It Tiki Hut Tan, Prismacolor PM-69 Goldenrod & PM-123 Spanish Orange</font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia"><u>Shading</u></font></p> <p align="center"><font size="2" face="Georgia">Copic Sketch Warm Gray No. 1, B000 Pale Porcelain Blue & Colorless Blender</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">The card base is 4” x 5.5.” Yes, I trimmed it because I felt it was a little bit too wide. The card base is Kraft and the patterned papers are from Pink Paislee’s <em><strong>London Market</strong></em> 6” x 6” paper pack. I stamped the image with Memento<em> Rich Cocoa</em> Ink onto Stamper’s Select White cardstock. I diecut it with my Spellbinders Petite Ovals Small dies and inked it with <em>Antique Linen</em> and <em>Wild Honey</em> Distress Inks. I set it aside to dry while I worked on the card base, but I went back to it and stamped stars around the image with Versamark Dazzle ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then matted it on a Petite Scalloped Oval Large cut from Terracotta Tile cardstock. And before I forget, I dry embossed the Aqua Mist cardstock with the <em>Textile</em> Cuttlebug folder. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I tried to keep everything relatively neutral. The only non-neutral color comes from the red-orange of the Terracotta Tile. In my opinion, aqua and lavender are colored neutrals, but again, that’s my view. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I did some embellishing with Prima <em>Say it With Crystals</em>, scrunched seam binding, and a faceted button. I used sentiments from My Creative Time’s <strong><em>Piles of Smiles</em></strong> stamp set. I popped up the sentiment banner with dimensional adhesive, and added some rhinestones to bring in a little more lavender. Lastly, I rounded the corners with the .25” setting on my Corner Chomper and hit the entire care with Mister Huey Shine.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Thanks so much for coming by! I really like the fading effect, but it does make the photos darker so by all means, let me know if you don’t like it. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">My good friend <a href="pinkblingcrafter.blogspot.com">Norma</a> and I were chatting one night and she pretty much told me I should make a card using my Cricut. Well, I decided that I wanted to work on my design skills, so I used the same image and sentiment in a series of cards. I started with something simple, and worked my way up to something more involved. I have to be honest and admit that if I were just going to make one card, my first inclination is to always make it very involved. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">What I ended up doing was using a few select patterns, textures, colors, and embellishments in different ways. The chevron from the ribbon the first card inspired the use of the chevron paper on the second and third cards. The first card had a black base, but instead of using a black base on the second card, I used a pattern that was mainly black. And, on the third card, I used the same patterned paper (stars) to punch out the pattern, to tie is back to the second card. Lather, rinse, repeat!!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Thanks for stopping by today! I have another one of my vintage numbers to share with you all today. As I type this, I have the urge to add some glitter to it, but what’s done is done!</font></p> <p align="justify"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-kkf53DdoJPTIsbPvCRyFvxm1xFsNGEho92rFpsaGbAxNBni0bpy8NNX2yCurY_0SO__QJdxyUsLNTC2tge114sZV-HvUxb9avm779JT8VgWePQ6uyJF4KIli-GN2VqdjrkQCmKrfr8k/s1600-h/DSCF0338%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0338" border="0" alt="DSCF0338" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8jysQakrRz3zYO0RtcmMtNvQn-BevTqxgST1ZSnggx4DzRgbjt1XUYMUhgs-ghDtzH7-HkVTnx4u926e1mhAJC4IEOMHJWwqDkps7AEsIIm6na_ExMPNJnr90mjaSVu9MvJqippJo0Sg//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="418"></a></p> <p><font size="3" face="Georgia"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjKJD_WWqyg_JTWLwd6Hs2qP211eLt86AJTjvQOpUMe8MvbXzZKVqN_4ElQDwhBNBecC8H7osGQDmrdFaXDgUizkEBjdfLMth9L4jqBL8LZvxV984MJ6_JZSa8NBj0FNtIDVnUOTy8neY/s1600-h/DSCF0340%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0340" border="0" alt="DSCF0340" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJXeI805dsMFLfeVXLS4kkk_4KKvUxB5xyQIKn8TEU-MsnBTkAkO5J3pubxjGKngPhw2npd08R4Dm8EoLvpqvTC8-1p8YgIsrRAX_olkag7SkZ_oFqpq6FL65QMy2gyg5LqcvDD5s6NZY//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="487"></a></font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Okay, so I challenged myself to make a Halloween card without using traditional colors, and to also use some of the things that I’ve been hoarding. I’ve been on a bit of a, I need to buy this and this and that phase, and, I have to kind of lay off the buying because I’m going on vacation in November. Moving on!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">For the first time in a long time, I made an odd sized card. The base is <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/paper/perfect-match-sweet-blush-cardstock-24-sheets/">Sweet Blush</a> and measures 3.75” x 5.5.” I basically made an A2 and shaved half an inch off. That keeps you from wasting cardstock. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">All of the patterned papers are for Colorbok. I bought the<em> Victorian Parlour </em>8” x 8” pad and the die cut accents from Jo-Ann this summer. Basically, I just picked some patterns that coordinated, starting with a brown scroll type pattern. I stamped <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/background-basics-sheet-music-stamp-set/">Background Basics: Sheet Music</a> with <a href="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-m-VO61n3CXg/UCqca1NpLnI/AAAAAAAAExg/j16Y27vmVDI/s230/NormaOrderBlinkie.gif">Crumb Cake</a> ink on the pink doily paper. I wanted something a bit subtle. I stitched the papers together and then adhered them to the base. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I found some new (Well, new to me!) doilies at Jo-Ann a few weeks ago, and it' wouldn’t be one of my cards if I didn’t use one, so I took one out and gave it a misting with <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/shop/color-mist-singles/mister-huey-s-boss-lady">Boss Lady</a> Mr. Huey spray mist from Studio Calico. Again, trying to bring in the pink more. Ohh, I did ink the doily with Antique Linen and just the tiniest amount of Vintage Photo Distress ink because white would have ben too stark for this card. I rarely, if ever, use white cardstock. When I do, you will know it!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">From there, I adhered a large rose die cut and then I layered on the vintage postcard I printed from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/iralamijashop">Beatriz Jennings</a> Etsy shop. A little more stitching – to fully secure it. I added a little pearl flourish from Recollections across the bottom. I used some trim on the edge of the card. I really love this stuff. I need to get it in more colors. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">To finish it up, I made a bow from natural jute ribbon and seam binding from <a href="http://lizspaperloft.3dcartstores.com/">Liz’s Paperloft Boutique</a>. I glued one of the butterfly die cuts from the collection in the center. If you look closely, the little girl on the postcard is holding Jack – O – Lantern, so I found the perfect sentiment in<em> </em><a href="http://shop.my-creative-time.com/All-Around-Halloween-Stamp-Set-MCT-031.htm"><em>All Around Halloween</em></a> from My Creative Time. I stamped it with <a href="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-m-VO61n3CXg/UCqca1NpLnI/AAAAAAAAExg/j16Y27vmVDI/s230/NormaOrderBlinkie.gif">Soft Suede</a> ink from Stampin Up. The very last touch was to swipe my Fresh Ink <a href="http://www.impressrubberstamps.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=Impress_fresh_ink&Category_Code=I">Paper White</a> ink pad to soften the hard edges of the card. I decided to do this instead of Distressing it with Antique Linen. I wanted it to stay kind of light. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Thanks for stopping by! Have a blessed day!</font></p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04662654081230585578noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1063863827831079581.post-65162509405523556632012-09-19T10:24:00.001-05:002012-09-19T10:24:07.666-05:00Thank You Blossoms<p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Hello everyone! I had to pop in and share a card with a warm weather card before Fall is full blown. I think if I went with the ideas that pop in my brain, I would be making tons of Halloween and Christmas cards. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I wanted to make a card using my newest favorite color, Wisteria Wonder, and this the result:</font></p> <p align="justify"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVHf8wa5cXclllQ9_-6QJt4hU7nRHRK_9gaJ4j8MkpZD1TL19hFomg8SXNuWm6N8Ou7DtQVJK2VlGbrfqhA0BfuZCvEMZSQQ3zmUToiVg95zD8vaQK3zUtS3uUUBNsAyXbj9rYTVlsGss/s1600-h/DSCF0335%25255B16%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0335" border="0" alt="DSCF0335" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyx90yx9uA3NP0CuIDQ8YxbclXazF8qmh9cKbuSkdVGI1v2zAkKFm9pgLDeUmvIT8_bva2tC_JfWAgcCRTCqxffJ4sCuAebJ1dE2vrV38WK4OsDAf7tmCZe2ncN6PJXn9JAkWt0FDkcLs//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="400"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGGuE3oVNNiICg8JMoJxgkb4_oeVO9u9jPwBu8zpk2pzue3Cv6CiYmL1DM34qze-inJechoEiY2-RBd2TRBTIQQDvrGCZJ7zBFNYV60k3yJDSODRKoVjiC2huIWC3evmGwXzwYNHC2fs4/s1600-h/DSCF0331%25255B8%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0331" border="0" alt="DSCF0331" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxdN9XzINfKvTKjkq0ieUCyMNnrlLLDuQwT_IsZsVv7ntuhgwPSmI9BOlYlIHjfRPklL2ZedvP4TmzIGlou_ApX0UmsZpopP2dp7yg6in_J-FLGauSewaY2mykSifEHt4Lh3xddR9yZE4//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="290"></a></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I have never thought of myself as a purple person, but I am in love with this color. Anyway, I started by stamping my roses from <strong><a href="http://nlpimentel.stampinup.net/">Stippled Blossoms</a> </strong>(My first multi-step stamping set, and it’s divine!) from Stampin’ Up. The base layer was stamped with Wisteria Wonder, and the top layer was stamped with Elegant Eggplant. I stamped them on Vintage Cream cardstock and I cut them out with my detail scissors. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">From there, I matted a sheet of woodgrain patterned paper from the <strong>My Mind’s Eye <em>Miss Caroline</em> <em>Howdy Doody</em></strong> paper pad onto a piece of Vintage Cream cardstock that I inked with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo. I swear, I use those inks like they’re going out of style. I digress! I took the card front to my sewing machine and did a simple perimeter stitch. I wanted to use a big sentiment with this card, so I pulled out My Creative Time’s <em><strong><a href="http://shop.my-creative-time.com/searchquick-submit.sc?keywords=floral">Floral Sentiments</a></strong></em>. I embossed the sentiment with <strong>White Zing</strong> embossing powder from American Crafts. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Okay, pulling it all together now! I used my Expression to cut a large scalloped border from a piece of script patterned paper from the <strong><a href="http://www.acherryontop.com/shop/company/my_minds_eye/line/the_sweetest_thing/159922-Lavender%206%20x%206%20Paper%20Pad%20-%20The%20Sweetest%20Thing%20-%20My%20Minds%20Eye">My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Lavender</a><em></em></strong> pad. If I recall, the scallop is on the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. I adhered it directly to the card front. I then added some <em><strong><a href="http://nlpimentel.stampinup.net/">Victoria Trim</a></strong></em> from Stampin’ Up. Love this stuff, you will be seeing lots of it. And then, I took my flowers that I had stamped and cut out, and some leaves that I diecut from <strong><a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-felt/papertrey-ink-felt-simply-chartreuse/">Simply Chartreuse Felt</a></strong> using my <strong><a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-the-sweet-life-die-collection-set-of-2/">Sweet Life</a></strong> dies and layered them onto the card front. I used a combination of dimensional adhesive and hot glue. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">The finishing touch was some scrunched <strong><a href="http://lizspaperloft.3dcartstores.com/Seam-Binding-Ribbon-20-color-pack-60-yards_p_13.html">seam binding</a></strong> from Liz’s Paperloft Boutique and an <strong><a href="http://nlpimentel.stampinup.net/">Antique Brad</a></strong> from Stampin’ Up. OHH! I also misted the card with <strong>Mr. Huey Calico Shine</strong>, but I don’t possess the photography skills to show you all. But in person, it has a really nice shimmer. Love that stuff!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Thanks for stopping by! Having a bit of a busy work week, but I do hope to find some time to craft. As always, I wish you a blessed day!</font></p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04662654081230585578noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1063863827831079581.post-53162061942628242862012-09-13T06:00:00.001-05:002012-09-13T06:00:50.733-05:00Birthday Wishes<p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Hello crafty people! I hope everyone is having a good week! I’m popping up today to share a number that I made for my mother’s birthday a few weeks ago. I would like to think that it’s organized and well put together, but I will let you all be the judge! </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">The base of the card is <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/paper/paper-basics-kraft-cardstock-50-sheets/">Kraft</a>. However, I did something that I rarely do – I covered the entire base with a piece of patterned paper from My Mind’s Eye. For this card, I used paper from the <strong>Miss Caroline Dilly Dally</strong> 6” x 6” pad. I did quite a bit of inking. I used Antique Linen, Tea Dye, and just the tiniest bit of Walnut Stain Distress Inks throughout the card. I sewed the patterned paper front directly to the Kraft base with a perimeter zig-zag stitch. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Next, I cut a 3.75” x 5” piece of Kraft and embossed it with my Sizzix <strong><a href="http://nlpimentel.stampinup.net/">Square Lattice</a></strong> folder from Stampin’ Up. I’ve had this for a while, and just never got around to using it. I bought it during my style transformation, so it kind of sat in my little embossing folder crate. Anyway, I *think* I used the debossed side, and I sewed another piece of patterned paper to it. I then used my edge distresser to rough up the edges. This was adhered directly to the card base. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">For my stamping, I used <strong><em><a href="http://shop.my-creative-time.com/Teeny-Tag-Greetings-Stamp-Set-MCT-058.htm?categoryId=-1">Teeny Tags</a></em></strong> from My Creative Time, and the <strong><a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-strawberry-patch-die-collection-set-of-4/">Strawberry Patch dies</a></strong> and a <strong><a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-mat-stack-4-die/">Mat Stack 4</a></strong> diecut from Papertrey Ink. The stamps I used were <strong><a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/strawberry-patch-stamp-set/">Strawberry Patch</a></strong> and <em><strong>Teeny Tag Greetings</strong></em>. The Strawberry Patch stamp set is kind of a double use set, it has stamps for those that like to color, and stamps for those that just like to stamp. Personally, I’m kind of in the middle. I would like to attend a Copic class, but they seem to avoid the South! Anyway, I used the leaf outline stamps, and stamped it on the diecut with <strong>Always Artichoke</strong> ink. I went back in with the large flower and stamped it with <strong><a href="http://www.impressrubberstamps.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=Impress_fresh_ink&Category_Code=I">Paper White</a></strong> Fresh Ink. I colored in the center of the flower with my <strong>Spanish Orange</strong> Prismacolor Marker. After all of that, I used my Woodgrain Impression Plate to give it something a little extra. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">This is where I am going to digress and let you all know why I tend to not video myself making cards. More often than note, they are very involved! But, I do have plans to make more tutorials! Back to your regular scheduled programming . . . </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I diecut the the strawberries from Kraft and stamped them with <strong>Real Red</strong> and Always Artichoke inks. Then I adhered them to the Mat Stack with dimensional adhesive. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Now, putting it all together! I pulled out a doily and inked it really good with <strong>Baja Breeze</strong> ink. I did this to pull out the blue from my pattered paper. I adhered the mat with my strawberries with more dimensional adhesive. It wouldn’t be a card from me if I didn’t tie a bow. For that, I used some <strong><a href="http://www.amazon.com/May-Arts-Champagne-Chevron-Stripes/dp/B0064YP4YI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1347533496&sr=8-1&keywords=champagne+chevron+twill">May Arts Chevron Twill</a></strong> ribbon. And, I secured my sentiment to it with a vintage button from Papertrey Ink, and <strong><a href="http://www.thetwinery.com/product/maraschino-red-white-eco-luxe-bakers-twine">Maraschino</a></strong> twine from The Twinery. Lastly, I added some Lime Green Stickles, cause you know I loves me some glitter.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Before I go, I have a little announcement. I have decided to step down from the My Creative Time Design Team. It was a really hard decision, but it was something that I thought over for a while. I sincerely love Emma and the ladies on the DT more than I can express. There aren’t many guys in this craft of ours, but they welcomed me with open arms. This doesn’t mean that I will stop using My Creative Time. A lot of my most favorite sentiment sets have a special place on my craft table. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">As always, I thank you for stopping by, and I wish you a blessed day!</font></p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04662654081230585578noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1063863827831079581.post-86099219048367070112012-09-06T02:00:00.000-05:002012-09-06T02:16:03.140-05:00My Creative Time Designer Challenge<p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Happy Thursday everyone! This week, <strong>Veronica</strong>, from <strong><a href="http://www.vkcreate.blogspot.com/">VK Create</a></strong>, challenged us to recycle or reuse a product that wasn’t intentionally made to craft with. I decided to incorporate wrapping paper into my card (thanks to the lovely Shar!).</font></p> <p align="justify"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBeIW3MqniKW1I85wGhQDD0tT1agBAXMnxsEfMLgeRH6J4Cfz8cxF1abmBbznQG97ae7U0GzE-tBwztlFCTGTMuojOp_qcEuWvFR0kxmJC3-aKLQqSebKqEC0OEhxbRw5BnRkeKpcBHeo/s1600-h/DSCF0324%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0324" border="0" alt="DSCF0324" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3grBOYnwEp45RfGR_T220_gw6xNeIJEVXF07s7LArZ05yOlRunMh5WNNVOeEcfCGU0kXwUMXPffB19Mc_7os1MvQQrovzDK5fpLIOLCFjr-ggEKhdYOKQrAIxycj83Zw7K01qipoOVxY//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="410"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiYvBw8FkafkKw16_8G0H2nt8m_-n4rg-WID_W2zVX6007_hHonOg_fmY3XcpiPH9slz-oB6XbS9d1i6iCf2SWCaZ2Zk38IYs8mS-7Ga5DQ4yGAVRYlXfX3q7qG5WL_fKJJa-XBIPxXx0/s1600-h/DSCF0323%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0323" border="0" alt="DSCF0323" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRHKWGQmt0pv77FU16MI2URi01jtWd65Bzg0npXq8ityNizap3fyDpuTWlw7QxhhEQaKDN8rtfrE02HH94qJcE5eo8spzJ6izgFTWTcG1izyZCvssc53JQ4CbayHoEjWbmGV2v1oG7bjA//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="256"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhve0WrJFolQCVhmnIKhVUiRYkdRLeTzuHRDq3HMWGH_kLHW8ud0iXfu2OUNJ7uqIWiqG0p0AO88Htzq_huUewD2JR2tZfYozxTJ8mMqxs2u10ILmtxF7bl3a8V_-cX6cVhDxgnPvJy_Eg/s1600-h/DSCF0325%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0325" border="0" alt="DSCF0325" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3hdGZLPYT4eYa_oyBq7WeL2wrRp5GETniJV5gPXU5wIwXUDtyQbVaR_oVlec6OM3nNTa8KY5290AN-4jS8PYf-5pLhhT_qMebSwfdgJ9VgPksxwZGNt0Ll2Dxxi9RhzMU2eCaXbnaHY4//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="343"></a></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Okay! The really cute paper that you see on the bottom portion of the card is actually wrapping paper. I bought it at Hob Lob . . . 2 season’s ago, I think. I love their paper, it’s really thick and the rolls have so much paper on them. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">The top portion of the card is covered in patterned paper from the original My Mind’s Eye <em>Lost & Found</em> collection. It has glitter, and y’all know how I lurve my glitter! I did a perimeter zig-zag stitch around the top of the card with my sewing machine. I then diecut a border using my <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-super-star-borders-die-collection-set-of-2/">Super Star</a> dies with <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-felt/papertrey-ink-felt-aqua-mist/">Aqua Mist</a> felt. I sewed that directly to the card (VERY SLOWLY!) where my to papers met. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I used Expression to diecut some snowflakes using the <strong><a href="http://www.cricut.com/Shopping/detail--Cricut-Christmas-Solutions-Cartridge-291-197.aspx">Christmas/Noel Solutions Cartridge</a></strong>. The red snowflake was cut at 2.59” x 2.18,” the aqua and vellum ones were cut at, 1.79” x 2.18.” I used the base snowflake for the red, and the other two are actually the shifted image. I used my spray adhesive to coat them, and I covered them with Martha Stewart Glitter in <em>Garnet</em> & <em>Blue Topaz</em>. SPARKLES, yeah!!!!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">For my sentiment, I used one of last new releases, <strong><a href="http://shop.my-creative-time.com/Warm-Holiday-Fun-Stamp-Set-MCT-085.htm">Warm Holiday Fun</a></strong>. The sentiment is what actually inspired the card. Personally, I fell like sentiments should fit in with the design of the card. It’s an integral part, so that’s where the glitter and shiny paper come in. Anyway, I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of vellum with <a href="http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/servlet/the-16019/VC253-Versamark-FROST-DAZZLE/Detail">Versamark Dazzle in Frost</a>, and I embossed it with <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/shop/embossing-powder/pewter-zing-metallic">Pewter Zing</a> embossing Powder from American Crafts. Cut a notch in the end, and adhered it with red line adhesive. I put a glittered brad from Hob Lob through the snowflakes, and adhered it to the card with <a href="http://confessionsofaribbonaddict.blogspot.com/2008/10/october-sticky-sale.html">red line dimensional adhesive</a>. Super cute right?!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Anyway, thanks for coming by. I adore you lovely people. I wish you all a blessed day! Oh, a while back someone wished I would do a layout . . . Monday!!! I’m not a scrapper so wish me luck!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Edited to add: If you want Warm Holiday Fun, I would suggest you order it now, because I talked with Emma, and she mentioned that they keep selling out!</font></p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04662654081230585578noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1063863827831079581.post-85522915780754022402012-09-04T06:25:00.001-05:002012-09-05T15:00:15.708-05:00Vintage Halloween Tags & Bow Tutorial<p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Hello everyone! So, I really didn’t have plans to post this week – my workload is kind of heavy this week, but I didn’t want to leave y’all hanging, so I’m pulling from the archives! Have you’ve ever been in the mall and wondered who dressed the mannequins, did the window displays, and merchandising? Well, people like me. Anyway, enough of that, let’s get to the card!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">This is a card I made a while back when I just needed to get something out of my system: </font></p> <p align="justify"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyqQdsPMoTWgF2hd8xK9dQfkM60x8oZINC6XiJtgE5aMZir0NDd1SzHickmQ9mfgIJ4uSBdRDN0kqpMsaNFU1rlJsFAKY0TvH_YouFLxwLEOYcXVfcIZJ3hjvi8PV8_dJ9cCpC1A1Aago/s1600-h/DSCF0204%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0204" border="0" alt="DSCF0204" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4f0kT0-Sply23Qi63L_dquA77lUIw9J7qd8-ZCa_CWU_OezAfEQMHjyz86ChbtyTiY6uaLCzpio8NYtoSQfq9ITVn4yc5kDD42exBXWDTcoeUFzzlRdSB97KMXGNz5DNHIsrjKSVcPOE//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="440"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjA112V291QbnCOfotyNaE3HSDgxNC4v5HaSgcXBPGJlyLnzNM3Xc5wSOTeDSUv6zgKrXS5wqx8m-DQrv-a8Lms83Su7sPN32vzAsjn-ZhMzN3ldQI14RHNGTrrfrmvAjQjMXeeeipFwnY/s1600-h/DSCF0206%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0206" border="0" alt="DSCF0206" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs6MJSVLtqL-KbNfhIif0zsUDWlo5c-NJ9pVIVMqNPr6tWAi1OIUS9yJlyEbRvvoT0EGij_IVwwJzNygSaBeJHKvto0RDNBycatKxXVjK1___HoF9_oP5p8_6P6sCKTtPOaJMZxs2v4CQ//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="383"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirJeulz_EPmYMVDQfX_dijPXW9g2i4PKY8blqBgRKbRGYNjZpxLZNAPBRY5vCierM4Lo32KaID1IT2TRmssYRbcxRHBzBUmDbxDx8sx2iZg9ar3NRgiMvjG-YKTA3Ax05lGJJk3XQ5Pn0/s1600-h/DSCF0207%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0207" border="0" alt="DSCF0207" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR5zZvM9k-38gxNQyhwkE90-Edgv4Gi16DgPb09AQaD5PZEEBeMUkoI3M958at_syaB3U5xWUBaDNEJ4vn9Ab7onJSgpdlRuX96Pg2XrbE10CHbAKVHbypGJQEKdbs8KCFv8E6WHY6qRU//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="385"></a></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">My goal here to make a clean and graphic card. I used what is probably my favorite set ever, <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/Item.aspx?ID=2459">Rosie Posie</a>. And, I finally used the Quatrefoil background stamp that I picked up at Hob Lob. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I have standard, top fold A2 base made from True Black. Not something I use often, but this is what popped in my head at the time. The card front is Rustic Cream as are all of the flower die cuts. I stamped the large roses with <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx">Real Red ink by Stampin’ Up</a>. The buds and quatrefoil were stamped in Fountain Pen by Jenni Bowlin. I used the <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/Item.aspx?ID=ptd-0211">Rosie Posie leaves</a> for the die cuts, but I also stamped a different leaf from a Studio G set that I got from Wal-Mart last year. I don’t buy the inexpensive stamps anymore, but I love the leaves in that set. I stamped them using Lucky Limeade ink. Also, the shading you see on the blooms, I did that with a Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I tied a bow using red saddle stitch from Hob Lob. I use this quite a bit – mainly because I love having a pop of color, especially red, but also so that I can order some from Papertrey. I just prefer their ribbon over most others. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I stamped a sentiment from <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/Item.aspx?ID=2199">Fillable Frames #1</a> onto a scrap of True Black and trimmed it with my pinking shears. I highly recommend a pair. I got mine when I worked for Jo-Ann, but they were not expensive at all. I keep telling myself that I need to get another pair to dedicate to ribbon and fabric. And I am convinced that I was a Southern Belle or something in a former life, because I am addicted to pearls! That being the case, I tucked some <a href="http://lizspaperloft.3dcartstores.com/Melissa-Frances-Pearls_p_37.html">Melissa Frances</a> pearls in my bouquet of flowers. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I finished the card off with a spritz of <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/shop/color-mist-singles/mister-huey-s-calico-shine">Mister Huey Calico Shine</a> from Studio Calico. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">As always, I thank you for stopping by! I hope to find some time to create this week, as I have a LOT of ideas that I want to share. Plus, I’ll be working on something special with a dear friend of mine, I’m just waiting on my goodies to come in. Also, the My Creative Time team is giving you all peaks into the different techniques that we use, and the first group started today! You can check that out <a href="http://www.creativetimeforme.com/">here</a>. My turn hasn’t come yet, so if there is something I do that you would like to see, <strong>LET ME KNOW</strong>! I’ve been pricing video cameras, so there are tutorials coming. One reason I stopped was I didn’t like that my camera picked up the noise from itself when I recorded. Anyway, leave a comment below this post, or feel free to email me. Okay, I’ve gone on enough! Have a blessed day!</font></p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04662654081230585578noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1063863827831079581.post-90008795013895942692012-08-24T00:00:00.000-05:002012-08-24T00:00:01.372-05:001031 Candy Corn Lane<p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Okay ladies and . . . more ladies. this is it, the big finale. The house itself, I bought from Hob Lob. There are three sizes, and I got the medium size. The very first thing I did was paint the roof and the eaves of the house. I used <strong><em>Black Forest Green</em></strong> by <strong>Americana</strong>. I knew I was going to cover the front portion of the roof with <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/Item.aspx?ID=vb135">Pinefeather Vintage Buttons</a>, so that’s why I painted it green. Love this color and I have more than enough to do another Halloween house and some Christmas houses. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Next, I covered the house with my patterned paper. I bought both papers at Hob Lob. The black & cream is by Paper Studio, and the orange and yellow dot is My Mind’s Eye. I coated the house and the pieces of paper with Mod Podge and adhered them. I used my heat tool to speed up the drying process. Then, I used my Basic Grey Precision tools to clean up the windows and doors on the front of the house. The sides do have windows, but frankly that is the most time consuming part, and it’s messy. However, I left the sides covered intentionally. I painted over the patterned paper with <strong>Folk Art <em>Vintage White</em></strong> paint. I watered it down because I didn’t want to completely cover the patterns. I just wanted to create a whitewashed – vintage look. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">The next thing I did was create the scalloped siding under the eaves with my Fiskars Scallop Sentiment punch. I used <strong>Butternut Cream</strong> cardstock by <strong>Core’dinations</strong>. This was something I had it my stash, and I liked that it had texture. I started at the bottom and worked my way up. The first strip went across the entire roof, the others I cut as I went. There are no exact measurements here. The only guideline is that I tried to keep the width to 3/4.” I adhered the strips with Mod Podge. When I reached the apex, I actually used a small heart punch because it fit perfectly. My punch is by The Paper Studio. I added scalloped borders under the eaves on the side as well. Lastly, I used some craft pearls to covered the seams. Not really necessary, but it’s all in the details. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">The roof, the roof is on fire . . . no, not really, but you have to have patience on this part. Buttons are great because they come in all shapes and sizes, as you can see above. I did a rough layout, but honestly, I just took my glue gun and started adhering buttons. For the back, I used <strong><a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/Item.aspx?ID=64435">Pinefeather</a></strong> Cardstock and I punched 1” circles with my Fiskars punch. I basically started at the bottom and ran a line of hot glue and started placing circles, slightly overlapping them. You’re not adhering the entire circle, just the top half, this will allow you to”curl” the tiles when you’re finished. When you reach the peak of the roof, adhere circles that have been folded in half. Gives it a finished look. When I covered the roof and curled my tiles, I sprayed it with <strong>Krylon</strong> adhesive and dusted it with <strong>Doodlebug Lilywhite Sugar Coating</strong> & <strong>Martha Stewart Hematite</strong>. Sparkles like a rock on a rich ladies’ finger doesn’t it? My obsession with glitter will not be stopped!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">The next thing was embellishing the house, basically the finishing touches. I added the picket fence, and I pulled out some of the posts. I glued some of them back on to make it look like they fell. I cut the ghost from <strong>Simply Charmed</strong> and I stamped his face with a Peachy Keen face. The set I used is <strong><a href="http://www.peachykeenstamps.com/products/PK_490_Everyday_Character_Face_Assortment-171-30.html">Everyday Character Assortment</a></strong>. He’s inked with <strong>Pool Party</strong> ink from Stampin’ Up, and his cheekers are <strong>Regal Rose</strong>. Generally, I am not into cutesy, but I think it was appropriate here. Isn’t he cute? My pumpkins are from <strong>Create A Critter</strong>, and again, I hid the smiling face with my Gypsy. To give them some definition I inked the edges with Tea Dye and Walnut Stain Distress Inks. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I wanted it to look like hay was on the ground, so I took some shredded packaging and glued it here and there. Making sure to pull it through the fence. My favorite candy EVER is candy corn, so I decorated the posts with some embellies I found at Hob Lob. On the front corner post, I used more <a href="http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/harlequin-grosgrain-ribbon-331231/?F_All=Y">harlequin ribbon</a> and tied some double bows, and I placed candy corn in the centers. I have no idea what to call the things I put on the roof, but I thought they were cute, so I went with it. Let’s just call them orange halo balls. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Very last thing, flickering tea lights on the inside. It makes for a nice subtle glow. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I know this is like a marathon post and I tried to be concise as possible. If there is anything you want to know, by all means, shoot me an email. I don’t mind! Thank you all for welcoming me this week. Have an amazingly blessed weekend!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia"></font></p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04662654081230585578noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1063863827831079581.post-51535069806405484792012-08-23T00:00:00.000-05:002012-08-23T00:00:07.952-05:00Tag, You’re It!<p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Hey there! Why yes, I did. I just can’t help it. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I intended to only make tags today. But, I saw this gem on the <strong>TBBM</strong> cartridge and I was like, “OMG window card!” You have to say it like you’re from Valley – like on Saved By the Bell. I’m a child of the 90’s, don’t judge. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Once again, I have the Gypsy file. If you want it <u><strong>email</strong></u> me. Now, down to business!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">This one is pretty straightforward. I found the candy cane cut on the <strong>Gingerbread Seasonal Cartridge</strong>. I used Pure Poppy, and Stamper’s Select White. Normally, I use good ole Georgia Pacific because it’s umm, affordable. But I knew I was going to cover that layer with glitter, so I used something more sturdy. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Okay, so, between me and y’all, I cheated on Martha. Yeah, I used Doodlebug Lilywhite Sugarcoating on my candy canes today. I feel terrible, that counts, doesn’t it? </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Because the card front has a window, I didn’t want any adhesive to show. So, I had to size it just right. After I cut them, I used <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/Item.aspx?ID=2405">Background Basics: Houndstooth</a> to stamp on them. I’m an Alabama boy, what can I say? No seriously, I like the pattern, that’s all. I used Lucky Limeade and Real Red. Full disclosure, I had to lay the card flat and mask the back with Post-It Notes when I was stamping. After that, I cut my <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/Item.aspx?ID=3222">clear cardstock</a> (Save your acetate!) to cover the window, and I adhered it with my Tombo Mono Multi. I used my Crop-a-Dile to punch a hole through the top of the card, and I set eyelets on the front and the inside. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">The only tricky part was positioning the foam adhesive so that it wouldn’t show on the inside. Does it matter? Probably not, but I’m OCD, so I just have to have it a certain way. For this I used red line dimensionals from <a href="http://confessionsofaribbonaddict.blogspot.com/2008/10/october-sticky-sale.html">Jody</a>, they’re super strong. I used them because I knew I was going to tie bows around the candy canes. For those, I used some saddle stitch ribbon from Hob Lob. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Last thing, a little <a href="http://www.thetwinery.com/product/caribbean-teal-white-bakers-twine">Caribbean</a> twine from The Twinery, and a sentiment on the inside. For that, I used another new <strong>My Creative Time</strong> set, <em><a href="http://shop.my-creative-time.com/Warm-Holiday-Fun-Stamp-Set-MCT-085.htm">Warm Holiday Fun</a></em>. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Okay, that is all for me today, but I have a really special project for tomorrow! I cannot wait to show you all. Thanks for stopping by, have a blessed day!</font></p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04662654081230585578noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1063863827831079581.post-56438947471334122112012-08-22T00:00:00.000-05:002012-08-22T00:00:10.684-05:00Tree-mendous Wishes<p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">It’s beginning to look a lot like . . . summer. I was trying to make it vintage, yet fun. </font></p> <p align="justify"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIrFFZcu3RZMEPN6ESJA8WtDR9-msAvWfr2GOWYz4vUEF-L864N7bpi97v3kA7EwIhgD2tRG2Ae7RIHZ_PaLp3cxTTUn9nRbzRCpFey1SsQ42kyUeBzDYtv0WVFMJ6Rngrjh8OGXnzWH0/s1600-h/DSCF0255%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0255" border="0" alt="DSCF0255" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibwF7GcFLzaQmWe2wAUh-c8rC94F48kapGbCW8Wv4_t3xlARWKlpos3iTlm3Xt3N1f6DI2R2Hrhrx6IrBZcIOBcqLJ0aAO9odlpaZV2ORRMBJyEdhGRFWt2u6ogrGn8eUpHdIKfeGkuw0//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="414"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPSEADRxyU5q0Pp6eSvCtv5nTGDBVo6mFAt1jOreMUqQM4KbWD9TmEaAE8m8r8HdDdlZalwapTdMy3EWF4ysCSwUOK5rqcSXCY4f7Tx3cqkHk_EnmVfBsZ6cTOF-TqmuoM6-WGf_35ZR0/s1600-h/DSCF0256%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0256" border="0" alt="DSCF0256" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglv6N9eQbNTeejj7PUclz4DScdDC9-lmxqp_nhyWaIIoXP0zSJlEw4VQbytgIREcGH3TYMQWEEUsyzQxTk9bbGPPWJtWYLjJCgjVz5HJPEKldgm9zvhcwJBM_-QFHIpOQae4LuWudYyEI//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="505"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH8VXIh2BDvP0Wba4xhSGSByoUm4oVgA2mYhdiCw9D6YLoViSbwoTvTWDyPaGLTr_6jSdfuYFyo4jWDNg0CbhkCsTq1v0LbpNbpgEN39fTuBrR9lCAiIB74u13BpVqNZgNN1cGNXT_ZXk/s1600-h/DSCF0258%25255B11%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0258" border="0" alt="DSCF0258" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbwSX0YhGW7Ze_RVNuQoWExbfeokZWf0Cn-HCA9sD-EXuf6fZW0s2xlTPcfm2TMQ-yCqZfRznF2zzUe3QFY7V-m-Nn3fUHN_3ZIa8cWu5zI447d-K-JADLcUV01gcDXeDyRWb1_uKV8kg//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="454"></a></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">For today’s card, I wanted to incorporate a little more stamping –because that’s what I mainly consider myself to be these days, a stamper. And, one of my favorite things to do is stamp onto die cuts. In this case, Cricut cuts. I stamped on the lighter green cut with my Just Jeans stamp from Stampin’ Up. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I totally winged this card. With the exception of the Kraft base an the Christmas tree cut from <strong>Winter Frolic</strong>, the rest just kind of came to me as I was creating. Just to let you all know where I was going, the Christmas tree is basically a vintage pin. At least that’s what I’m telling myself. When I cut the tree, the little circle that are meant to be balls were incredibly tiny. But no matter, I grabbed my Melissa Frances pearls and colored a few with my markers, problem solved. A little Crystal Stickles and my little tree was complete. The button card stamp is from <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/Item.aspx?ID=2329">Button Boutique</a> and I stamped it with Real Red ink. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Standard card base, no need for reinventing the wheel today. Continuing the theme, of the week, my pattern papers are from the Echo Park <em>Merry Christmas</em> Collection. The green polka dot measured 4” x 3,” and the stripe is 4” x 2.25.” Adhered them with a small amount of ATG – just enough in the center so they won’t shift while sewing. By the way, I use Coats & Clark thread for all of my sewing. While I had my machine out, I stitched some lace over the seam where the papers met. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Once I added the lace, I figured I might as well keep with the fabric/texture theme, so I stitched some burlap with <a href="http://lizspaperloft.3dcartstores.com/">Liz’s Boutique</a> onto a scrap of Vintage Cream cardstock. Initially, I was going to distress the edges, but I decided to trim it with my pinking shears to match the little paper sack I used. Which reminds me . . . Before I stitched the burlap, I used <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/Item.aspx?ID=2405">Background Basics: Houndstooth</a> to stamp on a Canvas Corp bag. I used <a href="http://pinkblingcrafter.blogspot.com/">Stampin’ Up’s Soft Suede</a></font><font size="3" face="Georgia"> ink. Words cannot describe how much I love that color. Love it. I know some of you are thinking, Trell, it’s just brown. Errr, no it’s not, so there!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">From there I tied a bow with some red seam binding, because everything is better with a bow. I adhered the bag and the button card to the card with red line tape. I have found that I like to use it because it has such a strong hold. Anyway, I stamped my sentiment from <strong>My Creative Time’s</strong> newest sets, <em>It’s a Magical Season</em>, onto a negative from a frame that I kept. I know it’s on <strong>Elegant Edges</strong>. The main cut is a postage note frame. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">To finish it off, I inserted a corsage pin into the bow, and inked around the card with Antique Linen Distress ink and a little Soft Suede. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Thanks for stopping by and leaving such wonderful comments. Have a blessed day!</font></p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04662654081230585578noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1063863827831079581.post-3987730703217309572012-08-21T00:00:00.000-05:002012-08-21T00:00:03.786-05:00Best Witches<p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Hello beautiful people! I do love Thanksgiving and Christmas though. Anyway, this came together better than I could have ever imagined. I am in love with silhouettes. I think they are classy and elegant, and when I was planning my projects, I knew I wanted to cover the witch with some Martha Stewart glitter. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I was shopping around for vintage/shabby crafting supplies and I came across some crepe paper trim. So, a light bulb went off and I thought, I bet I could make my own. And that I did. Super economical. I bought five colors for $6.45 – a total deal. I do regret not picking up the purple though. But, I will be making a trip back to Hob Lob this week so I might pick it up then. I used my sewing machine to stitch six strips of crepe paper together, and then I just cut it with my scissors. Really easy.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">So, my card is a standard A2 – True Black from Papertrey. I adhered some of that star paper that I printed from the <strong>Teresa Collins Black & White Pattern</strong> cart to the bottom. It measured about 4.25” x 2.25” – the width matters more than the height because it will be covered. The top portion of the card is a piece of Stampin’ Up! Wisteria Wonder that I stamped with my acanthus background stamp. I inked up with Versamark Dazzle in Frost and embossed with clear embossing powder. It measures 3.75” x 2.25.” I cut a 4.25” x ,” strip from a diagonal stripe I found in the My Mind’s Eye <em>Mischievous</em> pad. And the vintage bingo card is a printable that I purchased on Etsy. It comes as a 8.5” x 11,” sheet and I trimmed them out. I inked it with Wild Honey & Black Soot Distress inks. I should mention that everything is sewed to the card, with the exception of the bingo card, I used some red liner tape to adhere it. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I tied a bow with some seam binding that I purchased from <a href="http://lizspaperloft.3dcartstores.com/">Liz’s Paperloft Boutique</a>. I like mine crinkled. I found the frame and silhouette on the <strong>Happy Haunting Art Cartridge</strong>. Again, I tend to use my Gypsy whenever I cut, so <strong><u>shoot me a line</u></strong> if you want the file, but they were cut at 3.75.” I sprayed them with adhesive and covered them with Onyx and Sterling glitter from Martha Stewart. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Confession, I made a bit of an oopsie when I was sewing, so that is why there are buttons on the card. They are Papertrey and are stitched directly to the card with orange embroidery floss. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">My sentiment is from My Creative Time’s new <em>Treats For My Sweet</em> stamp set. I stamped with Onyx Black Versafine ink. I stamped it on one of my favorite Cricut cuts from <strong>Plantin Schoolbook</strong>. I just love the shape of that tag. The pointed end helps it tuck nicely under the button when I secured them. Last touch was a little inking with my Slate inkpad from Impress. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Thanks for stopping by! Kidding, I have a terrible singing voice. But, this makes me want to sing! I wanted to offer some ideas for the upcoming holiday season, and banners are great décor items. I opted to keep it simple and small, but if have a mantle, why not go all out? </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">The inspiration for this came from the <strong>Fontopia</strong> Art Cartridge. When I looked through the handbook, I knew I wanted to make a banner with the letters. I just love the typography. But, I digress! I’ll walk you through the process, it was really easy, and I worked on it for a few days (I have this job . . . I know, ugh. Joking, I love it.), but it really wouldn’t take long to do in one sitting. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I woke up my Imagine from a deep slumber, and printed out three patterns from the <strong>Teresa Collins Black & White</strong> Pattern Cartridge. Because everyone loves a visual, I took a picture of the patterns I printed:</font></p> <p align="justify"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinohvx126NrgYMo2urH6PkTfF1mu00aWHsRyBdH2Fn7-ocbr6mRg2P_TWfPWB_OCrCpLTEqLsKOUCDaFloNFxZgwkV3ICR-IuYUV7O1AJLkCKMo097Qob4E5ZWLRxVuWRQrdLqtodGV00/s1600-h/DSCF0209%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSCF0209" border="0" alt="DSCF0209" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinupBetKpbpnFHWT1DCVkkrMSJbOKeHLawIXXt9o8XEruAZ4lgZOFIOJtoEJ3MaLChGj4cWjGcIcqrZNaat4gWB3ryd0Jnxtdhb266fVpaeOyp1BkR7eecIVgqgFCS-yQV2hem0yJ7wzk//?imgmax=800" width="335" height="256"></a></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I am a big fan of options. Know what I’m saying? In the end, I went for the sheet music because I think it conveyed Christmas the most; to me, anyway. Also, as you can see, I printed on Kraft cardstock and it came from Jo-Ann. I think I spent more time deciding on and printing patterns, than anything else during the making of this. Trell’s creative method is to sit and stare at the paper. It works though!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I sized my cuts and everything with my Gypsy. I have the file for those that want it. And, I might even make a Craft Room file. I used <strong>Birthday Bash</strong> for the pennant cuts. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">I am a man of few embellishments. Don’t get me wrong, I love them, but I can’t afford to buy everything under the sun, so I tend to concentrate on a few. I will sing the praises of paper doilies. I love them and you will see them again this week, I’m sure of it. They’re cheap, and we all have at least one place where we can find them. Anyway, I used my Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Inks to age the pennants and doilies. I then adhered them with some Tombo Mono Multi. I punched a scallop border strip from cream cardstock and adhered them to the bottom of the pennants. And, I added a little trim to the top of the pennants. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">In this case, I also use paper as an embellie. I make my own rosettes with my score board. I measured my the width of my pennant, and I deduced that my rosettes should be 3 inches. So, I cut my patterned paper, from the Echo Park <em>Merry Christmas</em> collection, to 1.5” x 12.” Inked them and adhered them with my hot glue gun. I find it to be the fastest and best adhesive for rosettes. I adhered them to the pennants with hot glue as well. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Next up were the letters, I cut out three of each letter because I wanted them to be like a lightweight chipboard. I adhered them all together and sprayed them with Krylon Spray Adhesive. I then coated them with Melissa Frances Glass Glitter. I got that, and the Melissa Frances Pom-Pom trim from Liz’s Paperloft Boutique. I like spray adhesive because it cuts down the drying time, and it holds glitter very well. I also adhered the letters with hot glue. In the center of the O, I used my small star punch to cover the center of the rosette. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Lastly, I used some twine from Liz’s Paperloft to tie some loose double bows and connect them. Little extra nugget, eyelets would have been great, but I didn’t have any! I finished it off by tying some double bows with some ribbon I picked up from Hob Lob eons and eons ago. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia">Welp, sorry for the super looong post, but I like to leave no detail spared! Thanks for stopping by, have an amazingly blessed day!</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="3" face="Georgia"></font></p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04662654081230585578noreply@blogger.com18
