What’s up crafty people!? I hope everyone is a having a great week. I’m here with a challenge entry for the CASE Study Challenge Blog. I follow a couple of people (Christina MacLaren – go there, she is great) and I’ve noticed the blog in the titles often, and I finally was able to make something.
So, I really liked the inspiration card from this week’s muse, and I decided to kind of stick to her concept in terms of layout. But, I love a stamped background, and polka dots is in the title of my blog, so I couldn’t resist!
My card base is Rustic Cream. Think of it as oatmeal in cardstock form . . . I think that’s a good way to describe it. It’s appropriate because I find it totally yummy. I took a bit of a gamble with my ink. I used a retired color from Stampin’ Up, Cameo Coral. My polka dots and my sentiment were stamped with it.
I’ve been really into embossing lately – I like a bit of texture, ya know? So, I embossed my strip of aqua mist with a damask Cuttlebug folder. And, because of my ribbon addiction, I decided to do a ruffle treatment with some brown satin.
The frame is from Papertrey’s Pretty Peonies. I stamped it with Chocolate Chip ink and cut it out with my scissors. I’m totally going to have to order those dies as soon as they are back in stock, because fussy cutting is not a talent I possess. I wanted to bring in the floral element, so I used some blooms that I received in my one and only I Am Roses order from forever ago. And, to finish it off, I added some Melissa Frances pearls. I love pearls. My coworkers came up with an alter ego for me because of my love of traditional things – such as pearls. They call me Bev (short for Beverly). Bev is a Southern Belle. That’s just the beginning, but I giggle just thinking about the ridiculousness of it all.
Anyway, that’s my card! I’ll be back tomorrow with my sneak for the June My Creative Time release. I did a bit of coloring. You know, trying new things never hurts. Thanks for stopping by. Have a blessed day!
Really pretty!! Lee-Ann :)
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Trell! I'm impressed with your cutting skills! Great colors!
ReplyDeleteTrell, this is great. I need to come to your blog more often. I think your cutting skills are fine. In fact, I first thought you used a die. :) And would you believe I have NEVER ruffled ribbon for a card. I guess I'm afraid it won't come out even. You knocked it out of the park. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's gorgeous! I love the ruffle treatment. And your fussy cutting is fab. I'm trying to learn how to use my Cameo so that I don't have to buy all of those dies. ;)
ReplyDeleteI've been on a CAS kick lately but miss doing the "pomp and circumstance" cards. Your blog has just inspired me! (Hope I don't mangle the card too badly.)
