Rainbows and Sunshine!

I have no idea why this is, but I always feel like a new year brings the prospect of a fresh start. Even though, however, I think that change can be made at any point during the year. I haven’t made a lot of posts on my blog. I’ve always intended to write regularly, but I guess the simplest thing to say is that life gets in our way sometimes. If there is one thing to know about me, it’s that I am a worrier to the nth degree. I worry about both things that I have control over and things that are completely beyond my control. I would be lying if I said that I was 100% happy with my life. I would love to be spending my days designing spaces for people, but unfortunately, that’s not my current reality. That’s not to say that I’m not happy with my current job. Actually, I have two jobs, both in retail. One that I love, and one that . . . I could love again, but only if some things change.

With that said, I’ve decided, in the words of Oprah, to start, “living my best life.” The first way I’m going to do that is to try my hardest not to worry about things. I know that I haven’t used my work ethic, talent, interests, and brain to best of my ability. In the past, I felt as if whenever I tried and worked my hardest for something, the goal or reward, whatever it may have been, never came to fruition. I’ve always known that I could make my blog whatever I wanted it to be. In my head, I started it with the intent of making it somewhat of a lifestyle blog. My greatest passion is interior design, but I’m also a baker and cake decorator - a little bit of a cook, organizer, and as my last post shows, a burgeoning paper crafter. Because of these reasons, I’ve decided that The Traditional Home is going to undergo some changes. The most notable and important change is the name. I feel like, currently, it’s way to stuffy and with the topics I plan to discuss, not accurate. I want to make it more fun and colorful. I was racking my brain trying to come up with a great name that was a reflection of me. And, after consulting my BFF (Thanks Lena!), decided that: Polka Dots, Paint, and Cake Batter fit the bill. It’s kind of random, but I can be a pretty random boy at times. With the name change, I feel like I can post a cake recipe or a card I make, as well as design articles.

So, I feel like the new year is going to bring great things for my blog (my first followers, shot out to Norma and Girlia!!) and my life. Instead of worrying, I’m being positive. My new philosophy is rainbows and sunshine!!
