Vintage Valentine’s Day

I’m trying to catch up on my posting and crafting this week. In my head, I have an unofficial calendar. I try to plan projects and posts for the entire week.  My new printer actually has built in apps, so I can print calendars and other things without using my computer. In the future I’m to use a planning calendar and put everything down on paper. I’m not getting paid for this plug, but in case you’re wondering it’s an HP TouchSmart printer. It wasn’t very expensive – I think around $59.99, but that was at Sam’s Club. Anyway, as normal, I’m digressing. I do that quite often.

As I mentioned before, I’m kind of Valentine’s averse, but I have a lot of ideas that make for good projects – I think? I’m getting into my groove with card making and developing a style. Unsurprisingly, it’s very traditional, with a touch of modernism here and there. Then there is the kid within me that comes out occasionally.

I tried a couple of new things, new to me that is, on this card. The paper I used had a vintage vibe anyway, but I wanted to antique it a little more, so I used my Early Espresso Stampin’ Pad to ink the edges and face of the card a little more. I also added some embellishments. Moral of all of this: try something new, as you might like it! For the inside, I only added adhesive to 3 sides of the patterned paper to make a pocket for a gift card.

DSCF6473I took the pictures in front of open blinds, so I apologize for the shadows. I didn’t have a gift card so I used my Gap employee card as an example.

Here’s the recipe:

DCVW Cardstock  - Standard A2

DCWV Stack 7 – Red Patterned Paper 2.25” x 5.25”

DCWV Adhesived Pattern Stack (The 12x24 stacks.) – Brown transition layer cut at 1'” x 5.25”

KI Memories Classic Prints – Green Distressed Striped Paper 3.25” x 5.25”

The Paper Company – Tan cardstock layer 4” x 5.25”

White Grosgrain Offray Ribbon

Studio G Valentine Stamp from Jo-Ann dollar bin

Studio G Red ink

Darice pearls

White Prismacolor Pencil for faux stitching

Stampin’ Up! Espresso Brown Stampin’ Pad for distressing

Tim Holtz Distress Vintage Photo Stickles

Adhesive: Elmer’s and Glue Glider Pro

Hope you all like it. I think this is my new favorite card – until the next one. I have Simply Charmed on the way, so I’m excited to see the images for Valentine’s and St. Patrick’s Day. And FYI, it took me FOREVER to tie that bow! I used to be really good at it, but I just couldn’t get it to look the way I wanted.

Anyway, I hope you all have a blessed day!
