I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this, but my original reason for buying my Expression was that I wanted to start scrapbooking. Believe it or not, I’m not much of a picture person. I’m not at all photogenic. I’ve said it before, my sister is the one with the looks. I’m the one with the brains – even though, she is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in a few weeks. Super proud of her!
Anyway, I do like taking pictures of others and I have loads of digital photos just waiting to be scrapped. I really think it’s important to document our family events.
So, my first layout is a birthday page for my little cousin Andrew (we call him AJ). His birthday isn’t until June, but I’m trying to start early! I don’t even know if he’s going to have a party yet.
I used my Gypsy to design everything and I can’t stress how great of a tool it is. I used four carts for the LO – Plantin Schoolbook, Birthday Bash, Sweet Treats, and Blackletter. I have to say that the fonts on Plantin are my favorite. I have other fonts, but I always end up going back to Plantin. What can I say, I’m just in love with it.
For the title, there are actually four separate layers. On each word, white is the base/shadow and the color that is on the bottom is glued directly with quick dry. Then I popped up the two remaining layers. I hope that makes sense!
My little elephant friend is from Birthday Bash. I used Spring Rain from Papertrey Ink for him. To finish him, I took some blue Studio G glitter glue and put it on his ear. Only in my head does an elephant have a blingy ear. But he’s sooo freaking cute with glitter!
The crown is from Sweet Treats. I used yellow cardstock from Hobby Lobby for the base of the crown and Core’dinations glitter cardstock in Oscar for the layer. With my Gypsy, I used the hide contour feature to hide the heart that’s in the center of the crown. And no crown would be complete without bling!
I keep saying this, but I’m so thrilled with how it came out. All those years of yearbook are going to come in handy. I was going to enter this into the Provo Craft Anniversary Challenge, but it’s not clean enough, so if I can come up with another idea and bang it out I might enter it.
I hope you all like it! Have a blessed day!
Trell!! You're a LO making natural! I absolutely LOVE this! And the gypsy makes making LO so much easier because you can use multiple cartridges without running around! I look forward to seeing more LO in the future! Congrats on your first one!
